Planet partners with the Olivetti Makes exhibition in Mexico City
Olivetti Makes opens today in Mexico City. The exhibition illustrates the extraordinary industrial expansion that the Olivetti Company launched in Latin America.
The exhibition retraces this forgotten story, which has produced some formidable examples of industrial architecture. It opens today in Mexico City at the Palacio de Bellas Artes and will receive visitors until January 13, 2019.
The exhibition describes the story of Olivetti Mexicana SA, which was founded in 1949 as a simple outpost for the door to door sale of typewriters imported from Italy. The operation gradually expanded and in the sixties their factories were assembling and manufacturing typewriters with Made in Mexico written on them.
The exhibition is curated by Pier Paolo Peruccio, a professor from the Department of Architecture and Design at the Polytechnic University of Turin, with the installation by the architect Alessandro Colombo.
Planet is a proud partner of this stimulating cultural initiative, which recounts one of the many stories that connects Italy with Central and South America.
